Sourdough Pancakes

A fantastic recipe to use up your sourdough starter. Full of energy for those big training session and can be made fully plant based as well, enjoy.

Sourdough Pancakes

Makes: 6 small pancakes | Total Time: 15 minutes | Prep Time: 5 minutes


Ingredients

  • 1 cup white flour

  • 1 cup milk (dairy, soy, or almond)

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ cup sourdough starter

  • 1 small egg (optional)

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil


Directions

  1. Whisk together all ingredients in a mixing bowl until smooth and well combined.

  2. Grease a frying pan with butter or your preferred oil and heat over medium to high heat.

  3. Pour approximately ¼ cup of batter into the pan for each pancake.

  4. Cook for about 2 minutes, or until bubbles form on the surface. Then flip and cook the other side for another 1–2 minutes until golden.

  5. Serve warm with berries, yogurt, and a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.


Notes

  • This is a basic recipe—feel free to experiment with different flours (like wholemeal, buckwheat, or spelt) or add-ins like cinnamon, mashed banana, or blueberries.

  • The egg is optional and can be left out for a lighter or egg-free version.
